Geneva to Mont Blanc

The Autoroute Blanche, between Haute-Savoie, Ain and Switzerland

The Autoroute Blanche is made up of the A40 between Châtillon-en-Michaille (Ain) and Le Fayet (Haute Savoie), and two motorways going towards the Swiss border, the A401 (Bardonnex) and the A411 (Vallard). Linking approximately 30 towns and villages, mainly in Haute-Savoie and Ain, the network is more than 110 kilometres long.
The Autoroute Blanche is therefore the route of choice for getting to more than 30 ski resorts. With an average of 20,000 customers of various kinds every day, traffic can triple on Saturdays during the February half-term holiday.

To guarantee safety and comfort for motorway users throughout the year, 391 members of staff are employed at two maintenance areas, nine toll plazas and three customer reception centres. Personnel include motorway patrol staff, motorway maintenance staff, works supervisors, IT specialists, engineers and toll collectors.
