Company Status
ATMB - a company in the heart of the Haute-Savoie region dedicated to serving the public
ATMB ("Mont Blanc Tunnel and Motorways") is a majority state-owned limited company that holds the concession for the Autoroute Blanche motorway and (in the conjunction with the Italian Mont Blanc Tunnel company, SITMB), the Mont Blanc Tunnel.
As of 1 May 2010, the State will transfer the management of the Route Blanche (RN205) to ATMB, as part of the Autoroute Blanche concession. The Route Blanche (RN205) will retain its status as a toll-free national motorway.
Its staff are responsible for:
Operating the Autoroute Blanche motorway (110 km of motorway between Châtillon-en-Michaille and Le Fayet in Haute-Savoie). Duties include personnel management, project management of roadworks, traffic management, traffic safety, and driving forward the company’s commercial policy.
As of April 2010, ATMB will also operate the Route Blanche (20km of toll-free national motorway between Le Fayet and the Mont Blanc Tunnel).
Coordinating, alongside SITMB, the European Economic Interest Grouping of the Mont Blanc Tunnel. This entity has been responsible for the joint French-Italian operation for the 11.6 km of the tunnel since it reopened in 2002.
Personnel deployment and continuous investment in safety, quality of service and protection of the environment
In addition to its day-to-day operations, ATMB is constantly investing in its facilities. ATMB plans to spend more than €28m in 2009 on the Autoroute Blanche, the Mont Blanc Tunnel and the the Mont Blanc Tunnel Sliproad, improving its customers’ safety, security and comfort and enhancing the district where it operates with better environmental protection and local services.
Further information
Between 2010 and 2014, more than €150m will be invested in the Autoroute Blanche and the Mont Blanc Tunnel for safety, service quality and environmental projects.
In order to meet these priorities, 636 people are employed on the motorway and in the tunnel.
